Christmas Miracle Offering

Mike Slaughter- a different kind of Christmas

Mike Slaughter, pastor of one of our largest United Methodist Churches, is fond of saying,

“Christmas is not your birthday.”

Yeah. We all know that. DUH. (Sounds MEAN, kinda, UNLESS you know Mike. Not mean…)

But really: Don’t we treat Christmas a little like OUR BIRTHDAY? Please think some about that…

This year, we are inviting Wesley Church to live out this truth and plan for a Christmas celebration that honors Jesus more deeply.

How much do you typically spend on Christmas gifts? If it’s $500, might you cut your spending to $250 and give $250 to the Christmas miracle offering? Or, might you save an extra $250 or $500 to match the spending you plan for gifts for families and friends?

The Christmas Miracle Offering will be given to two (2) different places.

1) Locally: it will go the Dover Interfaith Mission for Housing

2) Globally: the other half will go to Heiffer International, to buy livestock for families in need. The first offspring will then be passed on to a neighbor in need. Beautiful, sustaining, life-giving…

Please help make this Christmas ~different~.
