sacrament-of-marriage

There are many reasons to choose a church to get married, including the setting – and our historic church, located in beautiful Downtown Dover, is certainly a wonderful place to have your wedding.

We celebrate a Christian marriage ceremony in the United Methodist tradition for couples desiring such a ceremony. Although church membership is not required in order to be married at Wesley, it is important that the couple have a sincere desire to acknowledge the sacred covenant nature of Christian marriage. Therefore, we ask couples to be in worship at a church of your choosing in preparation for your wedding (we invite you to come here, of course). Couples also have premarital counseling, and a rehearsal before the wedding.

Our building houses a Sanctuary with traditional stained glass windows, a lovely pipe organ, and a warm welcoming ambiance that accommodates up to 250 of your family and friends in a traditional setting. The Sanctuary is air-conditioned. Enhanced by the church’s excellent acoustics, the pipe organ and grand piano are part of an inviting atmosphere.  There is plenty of parking.

As part of the preparation for this very important step, all couples are to meet with the pastor.  This is to go over the ceremony, as well as to ensure that the couple is prepared to enter this lifetime commitment.
