Becky is a thirty-year symphony veteran having played French horn in the Denver, New Orleans, Atlanta, Columbus and Rochester Symphony Orchestras. She has a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, New York and a Masters of Music in Music Education from the State University of New York in Fredonia. From 2003 through 2013, Becky taught fourth and fifth grade instrumental music and band as well as third through eighth grade general music and chorus in South Seneca Central School District in Ovid, New York. Upon her retirement from teaching, Becky received the Music Teacher of the Year Award in 2013 from the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.

Now for her story:

I grew up in Vicksburg, Michigan, the child of two French horn playing parents. My father was the town music teacher and my mom opted to stay home with four children. My family attended the Vicksburg Methodist Church throughout my childhood, but I did not give my life and spirit to Jesus until I was thirty-two years old.

A year after I learned of the grace God had for me, I found myself a single mother with two young daughters. I was thrilled to find through my study of the Bible, a God and Savior who wanted to be the Father of my children and myself.

With a grateful heart, within a few months after my conversion, I was leading a Bible study for college students at the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York, where I was working as a professional French horn performer in the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra. As a natural progression of God’s work, an orchestra of these same students and congregants of my church began playing beautiful music weekly in our services. God gifted me with the ability to compose many musical works involving the orchestra, chorus and soloists.

With the grace and provision of God, I have been privileged to lead Bible studies, orchestras, praise groups, choruses, cantatas and many other forms of music in churches and other venues.

I look forward with joy to working with the gifted and spiritual Chancel Choir at Wesley UMC. God is among us and my joy is complete.

If you or someone you know is looking for an exciting, spiritual, musical experience of excellence, please come and join the fun with the Wesley Chancel Choir. I also would like to invite any instrumentalists who are searching for a strong musical and spiritual experience to contact me as we anticipate starting an instrumental group at Wesley very soon.
